An oil level that is too low can cause serious engine damage. We recommend checking the oil level every 3000-5000 km, depending on the conditions of use.
Note that the car’s maintenance indicator display does not inform you of the need for intermediate service.
Do not overload a cold engine with excessive revolutions.
Turn on the air conditioner once a month for a few minutes, even if you are not using it.
Clean the rubber of the windscreen wiper blades from time to time using a cloth or paper towel. Inefficient operation of and noise caused by the wiper blades may also be due to stuck wiper hinges or a worn drive mechanism. Do not operate the wipers on dry glass or if the wipers are frozen to the glass. Wipers that are in poor condition can make visibility even worse in a situation where they are needed the most. Therefore, we recommend replacing worn wipers in a timely manner.
We recommend replacing the vehicle windscreen if there are more than 2 chips within the driver’s field of vision or if the chips are bigger than 15 mm. A worn windshield will also significantly reduce visibility in the direction of the sun; therefore, it is also advisable to replace excessively worn windshields. Replacing the windshield is a complicated job that should only be entrusted to professionals.
Check the battery before winter at an authorized workshop.
Check the headlights. Cracks or chips may blind oncoming drivers or result in a reduction in the efficiency of the headlamps and thus in visibility. A hazy or oxidized reflector reduces the efficiency of the lights. Headlamps that are adjusted too high will blind other road users, while headlamps that are adjusted too low will result in reduced visibility. The mountings and adjusting mechanism must be intact to prevent vibration of the headlamps/beam of light. Replace non-working bulbs. We recommend keeping spare bulbs in the glove box.
The wearing of brake discs and shoes depends, to a large extent, on use. Most cars in the city may require an inspection of the discs and shoes even between maintenance.
The condition of the shock absorbers affects the efficiency of the brakes, performance, tyre wear, and comfort. Note, however, that the wear of the shock absorbers is affected by the driver’s driving style and road conditions.
When buying tyres, make sure that the size of the tyres you choose matches the specifications. Make sure that the tyre pressures correspond to the pressures specified by Peugeot.
Continuous use of low engine speeds may cause water vapour (generated by fuel combustion) to escape from the muffler during acceleration. This has no detrimental effect on the car’s operation or the environment. However, continuous short distance driving does not allow water to exit the muffler, which leads to premature corrosion.
